Small classes, taught properly — by one instructor who cares how you learn
Mabini Freediving Club is a small, quality-first freediving school in Metro Manila and Mabini (Anilao), Batangas — led personally by instructor Jeffrey Nerona.
HOW MABINI FREEDIVING CLUB STARTED
I'm Jeffrey Nerona, the instructor behind Mabini Freediving Club. I'm a software engineer by trade, and I came to freediving the way a lot of people do — out of curiosity, just to try it for fun. What I didn't expect was how much I'd come to need it. Between the screens and the deadlines, freediving became my way to switch off: a few quiet meters underwater turned out to be the best stress release I'd found.
The deeper I went, the more I respected it as a discipline — physical, technical, and mental all at once — and that challenge is exactly what made it stick. I started teaching to share that quiet I found underwater, and to help people through the same things I struggled with when I was learning: the equalization that wouldn't click, the nerves, the urge to rush. Helping someone relax and take their first real dive never gets old.
I keep my classes deliberately small. I prefer one-on-one whenever I can, and I cap group sessions at three students — where many schools run four or five. Fewer people in the water means more attention on you, more coaching per dive, and a safer session. For me, that trade-off is the whole point.
CREDENTIALS
Molchanovs Instructor
Certified Wave 2 Instructor (W2I) — qualified to teach the Molchanovs Wave 1 and Wave 2 pathways.
AIDA Instructor
Certified to teach AIDA courses (levels 1–3), so you can train in either system.
Competitive freediver
An active freediving athlete with two years of teaching experience — still training and competing, not just instructing.
HOW I TEACH
Max 3 students — often 1-on-1
More eyes on you in the water, more feedback per dive, and a calmer pace. Quality and safety over volume.
Both agencies, honest advice
Because I teach both Molchanovs and AIDA, I can recommend the path that fits you instead of selling the only one I offer.
Beginners & non-swimmers welcome
I remember being the nervous beginner. We start gently, in shallow controlled water, and build comfort first.
Media included
I bring underwater photo and video coverage so you can review your technique — and keep something from the experience.
FAQ
Who teaches at Mabini Freediving Club?
Classes are led by Jeffrey Nerona, a Molchanovs Instructor (Wave 2 Instructor / W2I), an AIDA Instructor, and a competitive freediving athlete with two years of teaching experience. Because he's certified in both systems, he can guide you to the right path rather than defaulting to one agency.
How big are the classes?
Small by design. Jeffrey prefers one-on-one for the best quality and safety, and caps group sessions at three students — where many schools run four or five. Fewer students means more coaching per dive and closer safety supervision.
Do you teach both Molchanovs and AIDA?
Yes. Mabini Freediving Club teaches both Molchanovs (Wave 1 and Wave 2) and AIDA (levels 1–3), so your certification path can be matched to your goals.
Where are classes held?
City pool sessions in Metro Manila (Parañaque, San Juan, and Pasay) and open-water sessions in Mabini (Anilao), Batangas.
